I graduated from High School in 2008 from Plano East Senior High. I was in a graduating class of 1,444! Yes, that’s a lot! I received a softball scholarship to Midwestern State University and truly enjoyed every minute of my time there! We made it to Regionals in 2011, where we beat out West Texas A&M to secure our spot to Nationals in Virginia. We placed third. I graduated from college in 2012 and moved back home. I started subbing in Frisco in 2013 and was offered my first teaching job for the full 2013-14 school year.
Bachelors of Science in Education
GT, Capturing Hearts, CAMPT, PE, TGCA, etc.
This is my second year in Bushland ISD teaching 6th Social Studies (World Cultures).
I was a teacher and coach at Maus Middle School in Frisco, TX. I taught Math, PE, Leadworthy, and World Cultures. I coached Volleyball, Basketball, and Track. I was awarded “Teacher of The Year” for the 2017-18 school year at Maus. My best quality is that I can connect with my students. I care about each one of them as if they were my own and I treat them as such. I remember what it was like to struggle and I don’t ever want my students to be afraid to be wrong! That is sometimes how we learn best! I try and teach from their shoes as best as I can.
My name is Nicki Norman and this is my 8th year teaching. I am married to a DPS agent. Together we have a four year old little girl and a four month old. We are proud owners of a Doberman and a Yorkie. You can guess who the boss is in that relationship. This is our second year in Amarillo and we are adjusting to the wind. In our spare time we love to be with family and friends, which is hard when we are five hours away from them. They aren't too keen on driving out here either. We love time outdoors and go pig hunting any chance we get. I shot a trophy buck when I was 17. We are a musical family. My husband plays guitar, writes his own music, and sings. I just sing! I played the trumpet throughout HS, so I still like to get it out every now and then. I am currently learning how to play the violin. Our little ones keep us plenty busy at home.
