TEACHER
I am an Amarillo native and graduate of Caprock High School.
Staying close to home, and initially believing I couldn’t save the world if I was in a classroom, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and social work, and worked as a licensed social worker for several years. I was always drawn to the classroom however, and went back to get my teachign certifcation in 2008 when my son was born. It turns out, there is a LOT that can be done in the classroom, one heart at a time. I’m so glad I figured that out! The classroom is where I’m meant to be!
Bachelor of Science Psychology/Social Work: WTAMU 2003
Teaching Certification: WTAMU 2008
I am certified in both general eduaction and special education. I taught as an inclusion/resource teacher for my first five years as an educator and then moved to teach in a general education setting. I love that I have the opportunity to work with children, period. I have the opportunity to work with students of al backgrounds and abilities. The really neat thing is that where some perceive a disability, one is really actually stronger in other abilities.
I had the privilege of cutting my teeth as an educator in AISD at Western Plateau Elementary School. I was there for 10 years of my education career.
I received a huge answered prayer in the spring of 2018 when I was hired to teach 5th grade at Bushland Middle School. I have wanted to teach in BISD since my family moved out here in 2013. I am thankful every day that I have a chance to pour baack into the community that is helping to shape my own children into incredible humans. BISD is the BEST!
